How we use your donations
Funding the transportation of waste to recycling facilities
Managing waste on remote islands presents a set of unique challenges, the biggest of which is logistics. Over the past few years, we’ve established a waste collection service, bringing waste from the islands off the coast of North Sulawesi to our Ocean Plastic Sorting Station in Manado. There, alongside our partner DSG, we take care of the final treatment and shipment of waste.
Bangka archipelago is served by our boat, which significantly reduces transportation costs while increasing the number of remote beaches we can reach for collection. We supplement this by renting boats from local fisherman to cover the rest of Bunaken Marine Park.

Supporting local education programs
Education is a key part of the sustainable and replicable model we are developing. Teaching the next generation about their environment, the impact their actions have and how they can help in the fight against ocean pollution, ensures that they become a crucial part in implementing these solutions and protecting their home.

Your donations are used to help train Indonesian teaching staff and fund their transport costs to and from Bangka.
Maintaining our waste sorting station
Waste arrives twice a day with each tide, washing up onto the beaches and mangroves. Collecting this waste is labour intensive but, as research shows, can have a great impact in stopping debris entering the ocean and sinking to the sea floor.
Take action!
Your support will provide materials for our sorting station and for community clean ups.
